John Baskerville
English printer, type designer, and businessman who revolutionized printing through innovations in typeface design, ink, and paper. His transitional typeface, created in the 1750s, bridged Old Style and Modern type design. He also invented wove paper and was appointed printer to Cambridge University in 1758.
