Type.lol 017, Jun 2026

Hey buds!

Long time no see! Turns out when you quit your job you have a lot of time to noodle on ideas and fix a lot of bugs. Or go overboard and build too much stuff. Oopsies!

I’ve been working on a ton of new features I’m super happy to share with you along with some great foundries, designers, and of course their type!

Thanks for hanging around and continuing to support and use Type.lol! All of your submissions, feedback, and comments keep me excited to continue booping around on this thing! Appreciate you!

A New Home in Discover

Discover is now the new homepage for Type.lol. It’s gotten an overhaul and more useful information and blocking in it. It rotates through a number of generated bento boxes of hopefully helpful, interesting, fun, or funny new ways to look at type.

A faster, smarter graph view.

The graph view now runs on a GPU-accelerated renderer by default called Cosmograph. It handles our full dataset (30,000+ nodes) without breaking a sweat! Filtering is instant with matching nodes staying bright while the rest fade into the background. Flip the new Dim/Hide toggle to remove stuff that isn’t matchin entirely. If you’re not digging this new view, you can switch to the other renderer, but I wanted to make the graph view not make my computer hot, and make it faster for searching and booping around.

Search for nearly anything with ⌘K

Search got a major upgrade. Press ⌘K (or tap Search in the sidebar) to open a command palette ready with your recent searches, foundries, typefaces, and designers. Or search by classification, country, or pretty much anything else! Give it a whirl and see how it works.

Mobile is now—get this—not bad.

Before: Bad. After. Not bad. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty...pretty...pretty good.

Beta test something mysterious!

If you’re interested in beta testing some new goodies I’m working on please shoot me a note at yourfriends@type.lol letting me know you’re down to clown in beta test town or toggle the “Beta” switch to the on position in the settings cog and I’ll say hi :)
