Xingkai Next
Xingkai Next is a revival of the historic Xingkai (行楷) typeface, originally designed and hand-carved by Shanghai calligrapher Ren Zheng in 1980 as metal type and later digitized. Xingkai is a widely used calligraphic script style in China, known for its lively and expressive characteristics and excellent readability. Despite its long history and cultural significance, the typeface became effectively open-source through numerous digital implementations. Xingkai Next reimagines this beloved typeface for contemporary use, offering multiple size-specific weights and maintaining the distinctive character that has made it ubiquitous in Chinese visual culture.
