Rudolf Koch
German calligrapher, type designer, and teacher (1876-1934), one of the most important figures in 20th century German type design. Master calligrapher who brought craft traditions into modern typography. Created Kabel (1927), a geometric sans-serif that rivals Futura; Neuland (1923), an expressionist blackletter cut directly into metal; and Wilhelm-Klingspor-Schrift (1926). Taught at the Offenbach School of Arts and Crafts where he influenced generations of designers. Known for integrating spiritual meaning into typographic form.
