Jan Tschichold
Jan Tschichold (1902–1974) was a German typographer and graphic designer who revolutionized typography through his advocacy of modernist principles and functional design. He developed the theory of "New Typography" in the 1920s, emphasizing asymmetrical layouts, sans-serif typefaces, and mathematical harmony over ornamental tradition. His influential book "Die Neue Typographie" (1928) became a manifesto for modern design and shaped typographic practice throughout the 20th century.
