Seismic
Seismic is an experimental variable typeface that takes the traditional Bengali script in a new direction. The design was originally created for the 2020 Dhaka Art Summit, and based on the event's 'seismic movements' theme - which informed the letters' beautifully shaky forms. Universal Thirst designed the Bengali, while Fraser Muggeridge studio created Seismic's Latin version. Seismic is a modern interpretation of the Bengali script, with shapes left purposefully irregular to mimic the shivering movement of the ground during an earthquake. It's part of Universal Thirst's mission to expand the available palette of Indic scripts, and explore new and experimental takes on a more traditional way of drawing letters.
