Borel
Borel is a French cursive font designed specifically for primary school teachers, created by Rosalie Wagner. The typeface was developed during an 18-month research program at the ANRT (National School of Design) in France. Borel is named in tribute to Suzanne Borel-Maisonny, a pioneering French speech therapist whose contributions to education shaped modern pedagogical approaches. The font combines authentic handwritten character with practical legibility requirements for educational contexts. Available in a single weight, Borel is distributed as open-source under the SIL Open Font License (SIL OFL v1.1), making it freely accessible to educators and learners worldwide. Future expansion plans include additional weights and variants.
