Platia
Platia is a contemporary revival of the Hellenic Wide style, a wide slab serif typeface popular in the nineteenth century. The name Platia means 'wide' in Greek, reflecting the characteristic extended proportions. Toshi Omagari's digital redesign updates period details—especially the signature curled serif legs—to enhance elegance while maintaining the bold slab aesthetic. The typeface includes contextual alternates with shorter serifs for improved spacing and supports extended Latin, Cyrillic with Bulgarian alternates, and Greek scripts. Platia won a TDC Award for Type Design.
