Monopol (Nguyen Gobber)
Monopol is an expressive all-caps sans-serif typeface with clean, geometric shapes and resolute aesthetics designed by the Nguyen Gobber design practice and type foundry based in Vienna. The typeface features sharp angles and consistent strokes, creating a striking presence across its weight range. The heavier styles command bold attention, while the lighter weights offer elegant restraint. The full family includes five predefined styles (Thin, Light, Regular, SemiBold, Bold) plus a variable font, allowing precise weight adjustment. Originally released as a Bold standalone in 2020, the family was extended with a Thin weight and Kompakt style in 2021. Monopol 2.0, fully reworked and expanded, launched in 2024 with refined letterforms and extended capabilities, ideal for strong headlines, posters, and striking wordmarks.
