Elmira
Elmira & Co is Muk Monsalve's TypeMedia graduation project, a comprehensive family of 13 styles inspired by the process of type being woven in industrial power looms. The family represents a unique approach to typeface design where styles influenced and inspired each other during development, sharing similar design approaches, metrics, and sometimes letter structures. The collection comprises three main categories: a sans grotesque (Light, Regular, Bold) designed for small typesetting, and eight display styles in two orientations (vertical and horizontal grids). Each loom-inspired display style explores different weaving patterns and can be paired, juxtaposed, or layered to create rich typographic compositions. Future updates will introduce ornaments, textile symbols, and additional stylistic variations.
