Heliotrope
Heliotrope is a distinctive hybrid typeface that occupies a unique design space, neither fully sans nor serif. It combines the structural skeleton of a sans serif with the stroke contrast and readability of a serif, creating an unconventional yet restrained aesthetic. The italic is inspired by blackletter letterforms, adding historical resonance to the design. Comprising 96 font files across four weights (book, medium, bold, black) in roman, italic, and caps series, with real italics and small caps for every weight, plus oldstyle and tabular figure variants. The typeface is optimized for use as a secondary face in layouts and distinctive for user interface elements, especially in app design. While described as potentially the weirdest font the designer has created, it maintains careful attention to readability and refined typographic principles.
