Whitman

Whitman is a versatile serif typeface family originally published by Font Bureau in 2003 and awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design by the Type Directors Club in 2002. Designed by Kent Lew with inspiration from W.A. Dwiggins and Eric Gill, Whitman treats classical design traits with a spartan, modern finish. Even-tempered in text and stately in display, the typeface has been extensively used in prestigious publications including Brides, Women's Health, Fortune, and W magazine. The family includes roman, bold, italic, and small capitals variants, with extended offerings in Whitman Display and Whitman Banner for specialized typographic needs. A significant 2024 update, Whitman Text, marks the typeface's 21st anniversary with improved aesthetics, enhanced versatility, and expanded multilingual support.
