Yanagi

Yanagi was inspired by the design practice of Sori Yanagi, with particular emphasis on process: from the earliest stages, sketches were made using only poster paper and brushes to capture primitive forms of lettering, so the typeface emerged fully through making. Its tools tell a story of Japanese tradition and understated simplicity. Yanagi features a slightly reversed contrast and a compact structure, making it ideal for impactful display sizes, and was designed by Jamie Michiki between 2024 and 2026.
