Built from a rounded rectangle pierced with off-centre holes, the left-right weight switch derives from early optical recognition faces and commercial types inspired by them. Draws from Bob Newman's 1970 Data 70, Colin Brignall's 1965 Countdown, and Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) technology.
