Portrait

Berton Hasebe's sharply minimalist depiction of French Renaissance types, Portrait draws its primary inspiration from the Two-line Double Pica Roman attributed to the 16th-century French punchcutter Maitre Constantin. The marriage of classical proportions with triangular Latin serifs is a fresh way to see nearly 500-year-old forms, resulting in a typeface that manages to be both beautiful and brutal, both classical and minimalist.
