Canela

Designed by Miguel Reyes, Canela is neither serif nor strictly sans, not overtly historical but drawing clear influence from Caslon Old Face. Beginning as an interpretation of William Caslon's display faces, Reyes deviated into a design with flared stroke endings inspired by his experience with stonecarving, lending the typeface an inscriptional quality. It rapidly became one of the signature typefaces in the Commercial Type library after debuting in Document Journal in 2014.
