Velzyland
Velzyland is an expressive wavy display typeface that grew out of lettering CJ Dunn designed for Vast, a surf lifestyle clothing company. The typeface's sloped letterforms descend at a steep angle reminiscent of the waves at Velzyland Beach, a renowned surf break on Oʻahu's North Shore, evoking the steep, flowing slope of perfect waves just stones throw from Dunn's birthplace in Kahuku. Conceived as a unicase design where uppercase and lowercase letters share the same height, Velzyland's interchangeable letterforms and alternates make it ideal for logotypes, casual typography, and projects requiring varied visual texture. The extended character set supports most Eastern and Western European languages. Available as a single variable font, Velzyland combines cultural specificity with contemporary typographic flexibility, celebrating Hawaiian surf culture while maintaining practical design utility.
