Vandertak
Vandertak immortalizes Dutch cultural heritage in typographic form. In 2013, Pieter digitized the capitals spelling 'Holland Amerika Lijn' on the facade of Hotel New York in Rotterdam. The lettering was commissioned circa 1916 by Christiaan Bonifacius van der Tak. The typeface's distinctive appearance comes from optical corrections: horizontals were made heavier to appear correctly from ground level, creating a reverse-contrast illusion.
