Shantell Sans
Shantell Sans is a marker-style variable font designed by Stephen Nixon and creatively directed by artist Shantell Martin. Released in March 2023, Shantell Sans is a free and open-source typeface licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The font features five variable axes that enable creative exploration and animation in typography: Weight adjusts thickness and hierarchy; Italic adjusts from upright to sloped with carefully redrawn glyphs; Informal modulates shapes from normalized to handwritten-style proportions; and Bounce translates glyphs along the Y axis for playful effects. Available as both variable and static fonts, Shantell Sans is ideal for creative expression, typographic play, and motion design applications.
