Weird Serif

Weird Serif is a freaky take on the fancy Didone typefaces commonly used in the fashion industry, designed by Alex Slobzheninov and originally conceived during the 36 Days of Type challenge. Rather than conforming to Didone conventions, Weird Serif jazzed up the solemnity of the genre with weird hanging-down serifs on characters like V, W, and K, while maintaining dramatic contrast and an extra-large x-height. Despite its experimental character, usability and legibility remain strong. Best used at large sizes with minimal text, Weird Serif excels in poster design and impactful headlines for brands seeking distinctive, fashionable typography that defies convention.
