Xanti Schawinsky

Xanti Schawinsky (1904-1979) was a Swiss-born graphic designer, typographer, and artist who bridged modernist design principles with functional typography. He was a key figure at the Bauhaus school and later contributed significantly to American graphic design, creating typefaces and letterforms that emphasized geometric clarity and humanist sensibility. Schawinsky's work integrated his background in fine art with utilitarian design, influencing typewriter design and sans-serif typeface development throughout the mid-20th century.
