Peter Schoeffer the Younger
Peter Schoeffer the Younger (c. 1520-1589) was a German printer and type designer who continued his family's renowned printing legacy in Mainz. As the grandson of Peter Schoeffer the Elder (co-inventor of the printing press), he refined and developed typefaces that built upon Renaissance principles while adapting to the demands of 16th-century printing. His work on roman and italic types influenced subsequent German and European typeface design, particularly in the development of humanist letterforms.
