Oswald Bruce Cooper

American type designer and lettering artist (1879-1940), one of the most influential American type designers of the early 20th century. Best known for Cooper Black (1922), one of the most recognizable display typefaces ever created. Studied under Frederic Goudy at the Frank Holme School of Illustration in Chicago. Founded Bertsch & Cooper with Fred Bertsch. His playful, rounded display types defined the visual style of American advertising in the 1920s and 30s.
