Ludovico Vicentino degli Arrighi (c. 1480–1527) was an Italian Renaissance calligrapher, type designer, and punch cutter renowned for his elegant italic typefaces. He pioneered the development of the italic script as a typeface, moving beyond calligraphic models to create practical, beautiful letterforms for printing. His work fundamentally shaped the aesthetic of Renaissance typography and established italic as a distinct typographic category.
