Georges Peignot

French type designer, type founder, and businessman who managed the G. Peignot & Fils foundry from 1899 until his death in combat during World War I. Under his leadership, the foundry became one of the most renowned French typography houses, creating or launching prestigious typefaces including Grasset, Cochin, Auriol, and Garamont.
