Frank E. Blokland
Type designer, researcher, and educator who founded the Dutch Type Library in 1990. Studied at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, where he succeeded Gerrit Noordzij as senior lecturer in 1987. Received his PhD from Leiden University in 2016 on the origins of patterning in movable Latin type. Designed typefaces including DTL Documenta Sans, DTL Haarlemmer, and DTL Romulus, and designed the calligraphic lettering for Queen Beatrix's Abdication Act in 2013.
